SOU Sv. Paisii Hilendarski-KRESNA -BULGARIA

Secondary school St. Paisii Hilendarski has 354 students and 37 teachers. It provides general education. It's the only school in the municipality. The schools in the other villages of the municipality were closed some years ago. The students from 9th to 12th grade are educated in two different profiles - 1.Tourism and 2. Entrepreneurship and Business. The students have different background. There are 20 students with special needs who are taught separately from their class only in Bulgarian language and Literature and Mathematics classes. There are some students from a minority group. Some of them don't come to school regularly so they are at risk of early school leaving. We also have 10 students from fostering families. It is a big challenge to teach them because they have lived in special houses for left off children before they have been fostered and now they are learning to live a different way of living and to come to school every day.

Some of our pupils go to study at other schools after they finish 7th or 8th grade. So we work hard to show these students and their parents that our school is a good one and they would get a qualitative education if they stay at our school

The students from our school participated in an Ecological project six years ago. But they have never participated in any projects funded by EU programmes.

Two of our students have placed among the students with a high result at the national Biology olympiad. Our students like sports. There's a basketball and a football team which have won lots of cups.
